Partnership Working With Rochdale Borough Council
Through our partnership with RBC, we were able to part fund a specialised wheelchair for Dominic, aged 18 years.
Dominic has a condition named Duchenne Dystrophy and needed a specialised wheelchair with a variety of adjustments in order to maximise his comfort, independence and overall quality of life as well as his experiences, both indoors and outdoors.
Since receiving his wheelchair, it has enabled Dominic to be independently mobile and he has already begun taking trips outside – one to the Meadowhall Centre in Sheffield and more importantly he is planning a trip to London to watch his beloved football team Manchester United play at Wembley.
Linda Miles went to visit Dominic recently and at his request, he asked to record the following: “Thank you for making my life as independent as possible. I am now considering my options of returning to college which my new wheelchair will enable me to do.”
Michaela, Dominic’s mum also said: “I would like to thank everybody that helped from the bottom of my heart for the difference this has made to Dom.”
